CARDIFF CITY WELSH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
Maerdy Primary School entered the New Directions Cardiff City football tournament on November 1st at Cardiff International Sports Stadium. Competing against teams from all across South Wales Maerdy's young side played superbly; winning seven out of eight games in the process. Success was built on an excellent defensive effort, keeping a clean sheet in all but one of the games while scoring an amazing nineteen goals. The team have now qualified for the Grand Final in January day featuring twenty four of the best teams in Wales! Last year the team narrowly missed out on the finals day after being eliminated at the semi-finals stage so to for the team to get over the final hurdle this year was a fantastic achievement. Well done to all the boys and good luck for the finals in January.
