KEEP CALM AND ASK THE SCHOOL COUNCIL !!!
The aim of the school council is to provide every child in Maerdy Primary School the opportunity to voice views and opinions in a democratic way on issues that matter to them.
The school council is a group of pupils elected by their peers to voice opinions of all children at the school and raise issues with teachers, the headteacher and governors. The role of the school council is important, including fundraising projects and organising events on behalf of the pupils in the school, alongside being involved in planning, the School Development Plan, governing body meetings and interviewing staff.

Recently Jack Harrison has been e-mailing a company in Ton Pentre (Seasons Joinery), to purchase school benches that can be set up out the yard as buddy benches. The school council have been selling books at a cost of 50p to raise funds (with the additional support of KIMI LEWIS AND DARCIE COMEY). Fortunately, seasons joinery have very kindly offered to donate two benches and we are proud to announce that we have raised a total of £100 . The benches have been purchased and are in the corridor outside the staff room. Miss Knott is sketching on several quotes chosen by the school council in the last meeting. The frienship quotes will then be burnt onto the wood along with the handprints of each child in the school council.
